If you find yourself on Isle of Palms and looking for a trendy bar with good food, craft beer and distinctive cocktails, look no further than The Salty Goat and Billy G's. Last week, The Salty Goat was kind enough to invite me to its laid-back lounge for craft cocktails, appetizers, and a sneak peek at its fall menu.
Pretzel bread with cheese dipping sauce - The dipping sauce is made with a Kentucky Bourbon barrel beer from Goodwood.
Panko-fried cheese bites with salsa verde – These steaming bites of heaven are best enjoyed fresh from the kitchen. Soak up some of the sweet salsa verde dipping sauce to complement this snack.
Pork Rind nachos – Pork Rinds are big for The Salty Goat and Billy G’s. Topped with pork, sour cream, cheese, and jalapeños, you’ll want to eat these delicious treats quickly or else your pork rinds will get soggy.
Baked beans, pork and cheese – Nothing is better than a combination of beans, pork and cheese. Need I say more? This was heaven served in a cast iron skillet.
The Giant Cookie – You’ll have to wait until mid-September to order this giant cookie topped with creamy vanilla ice cream. It’s served warm in a cast-iron skillet. It’s big enough to share, but trust me, you’ll want to keep this dreamy dish to yourself.
Bacon Old Fashioned – The Salty Goat is on brand with a bourbon infused with smoked bacon. It’s topped off with a sugar-coated candied bacon slice.
Goatman Gimlet- This vodka gimlet was my favorite cocktail on the menu. It was perfectly balanced with the sweet ginger beer, lime, mint and bitters.
