In life and in holidays, "simple" often nets the biggest celebrations. There's nothing like a harried holiday scramble or an overblown, over-anticipated gesture to suck the fun right out of what should be cause for a smile, a rush of goodwill, a moment's pause.
Maybe that's why so many of us rushed to Joan's post this week—her series of photos taken in local neighborhoods, our stomping grounds, embodied simple. It was a lovely pause, an apt time to fall in love with our city all over again. Thank you, Joan, for your amazing images.
On that note, time for a correction and a REAL VOTE. See, we at Grit may have fouled up. (It happens from time to time.) There was supposed to be a poll in Joan's post, where you could VOTE for your favorite image. Grit editors have now put down our Valentine's Day cocktails, sobered up, and actually enabled the voting function. So go ahead, vote here.... For real this time.
