Tis The Season..officially!! It's December and I can't wait for all the holiday parties, hot cocoa and pj nights, peppermint baileys in my coffee (on weekends) and fireplace logs crackling!

When I was in college, my friends and I had a weirdly enthusiastic obsession with the Oscar Mayer Wienermobile. It was half out of stupid, ironic college guy humor, and half out of being sincerely excited at just the thought of a bus sized wiener on wheels rolling around. It became the standard of wished for transportation.

Ahem, It's Time to Party for the Parks, People...

Are you up for the Party for the Parks? Just in case you hadn’t heard... the Charleston Parks Conservancy, a volunteer-based organization that helps keep the city green spaces looking beautiful, is having their annual Party for the Parks on September 21! This is their fourth annual street extravaganza! It is a great way to have fun while supporting your community. This well organized event is held in the heart of downtown at Colonial Lake, just one of the many parks that the conservancy is working to improve. Don’t miss the silent and live auctions; you never know what great surprises may be in store. There will also be great food and drinks from local establishments such as Amen Street Fish and Raw Bar, Burwell's Stone Fire Grill, Oak Steakhouse, Indaco, Taco Boy, Nick's Bar-B-Q, The Rarebit, 44 North Vodka, Café Zest, La Fourchette, Cupcake, ICEBOX Italian Ice and Sugar Bakeshop.

Tim Brennan's "Boston Marathon Results" was spot on. As a nation struggling to cope with new terrorist attacks and to live with the reality of their threat, perhaps we could stand to take some cues from runners—like those in Monday's race. How do we live? We find our pace. We don't get weighed down by anger. We encourage those around us, particularly those struggling. We dispense with excuses. And most importantly, we press on. We don't stop.
